We are having a very rare rainy day around here! My children (and puppies) are acting like they've never seen the phenomenon of water falling from the sky. They have been standing in the window wide eyed with noses pressed to the glass in utter amazement. Funny stuff!
Of course, it didn't take long to find our long dusty umbrellas and rain boots, then they were off to investigate this weather wonder known to the rest of the world as rain.
What a joyous sight!
Once the new had worn off of the rain experience, we were back inside playing with the greatest toy ever!! My sweet mother-in-law, who knows us so well, found this toy which she gave me when the baby and I went by for a visit recently. Around here we love, love, LOVE opera and Shakespeare and ballet! What do we love even more than these things? Olivia the Pig!!! She is our very favorite book character! Well, someone quite brilliant came up with 'Teatro Olivia'!
This fabulous puppet theater has all the characters from Olivia in costume to become the beloved cast of Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet and Turandot! It even has a super cute Playbill included...
My favorite opera is Turandot and you might remember a link I posted not long ago with Paul Potts singing a selection from this opera.
The children have had the most fun reenacting Turandot with Paul singing in the background. Swan Lake is a favorite performance as well... though Hannah Banana prefers to dance the ballet herself rather than stifle her artistic expression with Olivia puppets.

Thank you, Grandma Pat! We've had hours, and hours, and HOURS of fun with these puppets. Hats off and a resounding round of applause for the craftsmen that thought to produce such a fabulous toy! It's almost like they know me.
Teatro Olivia wins the 'Lady Why Toy of the Year' Award! I am sure they will be most impressed to find themselves the recipients of such a prestigious honor.
Rainy day fun!
