We are involved in quite a bit of dog rescue primarily with pugs and boxers. One of my pug friends gave me this great tip that I thought I'd share with all you dog lovers out there. To dry your dogs after a bath use a chamois cloth! Yes, the same kind you use on your car. It absorbs tons of water and you just wring the water out when it gets too wet and start over. It gets the dogs much dryer than a towel and the hair doesn't stick to it...just shake it off. The best part is a job that once left me with a full laundry load of towels now leaves me with just one chamois!
It's also great to give a quick polish to their coat if they don't need a full bath. Just dampen with warm water and rub it all over the coat. It makes their coats really shine! The one I use is called "The Absorber" and it came from Walmart but they are sold everywhere. You store it damp in the tube it comes with so it's always ready to go and it's machine washable.
I have two Puggles, a Boxer mix... and the-dog-of-unknown-origin all with extremely thick coats and this does a great job of drying them super fast which is important in cold weather. Not that the weather is cold around here, mind you. The weather is fabulous, the dogs are sporting some fresh baths and we are ready to spend our day frolicking in the beautiful weather.
But, I digress.
For more great Works for me Wednesday tips, be sure to visit Rocks In My Dryer and keep the Dryer family in your prayers as they suffer through the worst ice storm in Oklahoma history. It's bad and it's cold and everyone's in the dark... not a good combination. We're praying for you, Shannon!
