The ultimate shampoo experience!

Tuesday, July 8, 2008

Ladies, do I have a tip for you! I have found the most perfect shampoo ever! I have been searching the stores high and low for a good natural shampoo. I've tried Aubrey, Jason's, Avalon Organics and more. They either don't lather, don't leave my hair feeling clean or have a funny smell. Who wants to walk around with hair that smells funny?

Then I found the Gourmet Shampoo Bar from Tennessee Farm Girl. Oh. My. Goodness. I have to admit that I had my doubts, seeing how I've been disappointed before. Natural shampoos have not lived up to their chemical laden artificially perfumed counterparts. Don't be upset with me for revealing this flaw. I don't write the mail, I just deliver it. Plus, a bar. I felt uneasy stepping out of my comfort zone using a bar as shampoo. It just isn't done in the 21st century... until now!

My friends, this bar lathers like a dream! My hair is silky, manageable and shiny! I waft the light scent of lavender when I enter and exit a room! What's not to love? The price tag is just right too. For only $4.50 you get this very long lasting bar! I've been known to pay $12.00 or more for a bottle of organic shampoo that gave me lackluster results. Literally and figuratively. If you are careful to keep the shampoo bar from the wet floor of your shower stall, it will last an incredibly long time! How long? I can't tell you yet because mine still looks brand new! I'll let you know. In the distant future.

That's one I'll have to try. I have crazy, hard to manage red hair.

I had not thought of trying an organic shampoo - I need to try something...I feel like the kitchen floor sometimes with the wax buildup!

Thanks :)

So how do you actually USE a shampoo bar? Rub it atop your head?

Oh, yes! You just soap up your head like you would soap up your arm... or leg... or... you get the idea. Sometimes I will lather up the shampoo in my hand and rub it through my hair that way too. It's really easier and more lathering than you would think!

Have you tried the Burts Bees shampoo - Ive been wanting to try it and was wondering if it was one of your disappointments... I dont know if I can do the bar thing, Im too clumsy (meaning it would end up more on the floor than my head)

It sounds heavenly, thanks for the tip!

I've been using Burt's Bees Pomegranate & Soy. I love the smell, but it seems to go so fast and at $8 a bottle (wholesale?) it's not a super deal. :- )

I never heard of a shampoo bar! I'll have to try it. Thanks for the tip!

I have used Burt's Bees baby products including their baby shampoo and I have LOVED them!! They have the best baby soap, shampoo and cream EVER! I haven't tried their regular shampoos but I've never met a Burt's Bees product I didn't like so I don't think I would be disappointed.

Do you have to rinse with vinegar like some of the other shampoo bars? I would really like to try this... I might order some for my family.

No, you don't have to rinse with anything special. It really is just like a store bought shampoo in the way it lathers, rinses and makes your hair feel. It's fabulous!!

I have long, naturally curly hair. I live in AZ and my hair gets super-dry. I end up using a super-moist conditioner and another leave-in hair product for moisture. Do you use any other product other than the shampoo bar to add moisture to your hair?

What a great find! I must confess, I need a lot of help in the shampoo department. I'll be looking this product up for sure.

Thanks!

I find it very moisturizing but my daugthers, with naturally oily hair, find it too moisturizing for their taste. I do not have particularly dry hair, though I do color my hair so I'm always interested in keeping it well conditioned so it's shiny and healthy looking. The shampoo bar accomplishes all that for me!

$4.50 sounds much better than paying $8 for organic shampoo. I will have to try this!
Thanks!

How long does it last? I tried Trader Joe's shampoo and hated it for the reasons you stated. Had to lather up 3 times to get my hair clean, so I switched back to good ol' Suave.

This does sound wonderful! Wish I could make something like that. Thanks for sharing your find!
