Hello all you faithful Works for Me Wednesday readers and welcome back! If you are like me, you have been suffering from an acute case of Works For Me Wednesday withdrawals as Shannon unexpectedly decided to take a month long blogging break, without permission, to do something trivial like spend time with her kids. The very idea.
It's been a long hard month and if you were caught unprepared for the intense suffering that accompanies Works for Me Wednesday withdrawals, you'll want to grab a pen and paper and jot down these important coping mechanisms.
1) Resist the urge to grab your keyboard and curl up on the floor in the fetal position. This won't motivate Shannon to come back any sooner and your family will stare. So will your neighbors. So will your dog.
2) Sobbing uncontrollably for a full four weeks will cause you to dehydrate and will give you one of those awful crying headaches. You'll want to add in an extra eight ounces of water a day at least, and an economy size bottle of Advil.
3) It is a hard lesson to learn that your blog stats are directly tied to your weekly participation in Works for Me Wednesday. Accept this and do not be in denial. The sad reality is nobody loves you. Nobody visits you. You are alone in the blogosphere.
4) Checking Shannon's website two four seventy-three several times a day will not make Works for Me Wednesday come back any sooner.
5) You may want to grab a Hints From Heloise book so that you will be able to function with some tips that 'work for Heloise'. It's the next best thing.
6) You'll find during a time of extended Shannon absence that you tend to spend more time on the phone. Do not be offended when all your friends and relatives start letting your calls go to voice mail. There's only so much conversation one person can expect from the friends and extended family. After all, they have a life.
7) Resist the urge to overeat. Chocolate will not take away the pain. It will reduce it to a dull throb, however.
8) Tackling a major home remodeling project may be the thing you need to keep your mind off your problems. This is risky since you will not have the important knowledge of what 'worked for everyone' when it comes to plumbing fixtures, caulking, sub-flooring repair, and tile colors. Proceed at your own risk.
9) The grocery store check out girl does not care in the least that Shannon is on a blogging break.
10) Get back to the fine art of spending time together as a family. Just like an extended power outage in an ice storm, a Shannon blogging break can remind you of what's really important in life. Then again, it can just make you eat everything in your freezer while crying over your stone cold computer. Either way, you'll learn to persevere through suffering.
These are just a few tips to get you through the next rough patch when Shannon gets another bee in her bonnet to go and desert the blogosphere for that pesky family of hers.
Of course, I'm just teasing, Shannon! Welcome back! And for the rest of you, the days of plenty have returned! Hop over to Works for Me Wednesday and feast on the bounty of 'that which works'.

I just want to know if you resisted the urge to offer to host WFMW while she was gone. I did (resisted, I mean), but only because I know she has no idea who on earth I am. ;)
Great, fun post!!
Ahhhh, offer to host. Now why didn't I think of that? I would have so done that!
That's a funny list - and I'm SO glad she's back! :-)
Amen to the days of plenty! My numbers bottomed out totally without Shannon! Wfmw is my biggest draw! Good thing I am not into numbers, huh??!!!
Great Post!
LOL, you're hilarious!
Very funny! Now that I came over here from WFMW, I'll have to check out some more of your site. :)
awww... #3 is not true - I read your blog every day - "What works for me" or not..... or maybe I am a nobody and dont count.... :)
Hilarious!
Awwww...that's really sweet. Thanks for your kind words, and for making me laugh!
Ahhh, Talley Images. That was you? I thought my one visit a day must surely be my grandmother in Florida.
Hmmm, maybe I should be depressed to learn even my grandmother in Florida doesn't read my blog! :-)
Maybe if you had posted that before Shannon went on a bloggy break I wouldn't have tried all those things to numb the pain! ;)
That was so funny...I felt the same way. But rest assured hon, I did come and visit you everyday.
see, I wasnt the only one.... and maybe your grandmother is just sneaky?
Hah, too funny! My blog stats dropped a lot too without WFMW. Glad it's back!
I love your humor! :)
Keep the funny comin'! It doeth good like a medicine!
Love it!

I seriously thought I was the only with a problem! I can't believe how my stats have suffered. Well admitting it is the first step...oops she's back.
Well now Lady Why I can honestly say that I visit your blog for your superior sense of humor.
Lest you think ALL your visitors were here for WFMW, I wanted you to know that we're not.
Though I do think that a good many others might be! ;-D
Ahhh, y'all are so sweet to let me know you love me and visit me often!
To steal some words from Sally Field, "You like me! You really like me!"
:-)
Oh, thanks for the laughs tonight! That was so great. Glad to have found your blog.... Look forward to being a reader!
Hilarious! Yeah, #3 is pretty sad...I felt your pain. ;-)
Great Post!! I totally agree with several of those -- especially the numbers one. My traffic was down a lot, but I was also surprised how much I got done around the house on Wednesdays for the past month. Usually I'm glued to the computer reading tips.
Have a great day!
Kristin
